Prior
to
the
first
“Summertime
Special”
in
1994,
a
small
party
of
young
people
created
a
fundraising
group
to
raise
funds
for
some
new
Christmas
lights
for
Withernea’s
public
areas.
It
was
decided
by
Pete
Sudaby,
Kevin
Lythe
and
Keith
Hardcastle,
amongst
others,
that
a
live
music
festival
was
a
good
way
to
generate
interest
and
also
attract
backing
from
local
businesses
and
individual
donations.
This
idea
proved
extremely
successful
and
local
businessman
Teddy
Clark
sponsored
the
1995
event
which
included
a
performance
from
local
David
Bowie
tribute
master,
Les
Holdstock.
Les
has
featured
several times since, in various line ups as David Bowie.
Following
this
successful
period,
it
was
suggested
that
the
Withernsea
Town
Council
should
get
involved
and
this
would
help
with
funding,
administration
and
growth
of
the
concert.
The
council
arranged
a
committee
which
has
raised
funds
and
organised
the
concert
since
1996.
Many
people
have
helped
and
been
involved
along
the
way
including
the
Holderness
High
Riders
and
Low
siders
motorcycle
club,
who
managed
the
Bike
fest
side
of
the
operation
for
many
years.
Following
many
changes
of
committee
members,
chairmen
and
helpers,
we
still
have
an
amazing
team
of
dedicated
volunteers
who
motivate, encourage and strive to make our next event the very best.
